Grab the thing.
No installers, no ceremony. Each zip below is exactly one file — unzip it, drop it where your DAW looks, done. Free builds run in demo mode; a license key unlocks saving and export.
Your OS will warn you. That’s expected.
These builds are ad-hoc signed — no Apple Developer ID, no Windows code-signing certificate. That money went into DSP instead, and the binaries are fine. The warnings are about who didn’t pay, not about what’s inside.
- macOS — “damaged” or “unidentified developer”: right-click the app and choose Open, or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
- Windows — SmartScreen “unrecognized app”: More info → Run anyway.
- Linux — no ceremony; nobody to pay.
Plugin formats mostly slide straight into a host — the warnings usually hit the standalone app.
RUB v0.1.2
The plugin polish release. A smarter plugin window, real host tempo following, and a cleaner look for the glowing LEDs.
What's new
- Collapsible sequencer (plugins). Switch the sequencer card off with its LED and the window shrinks to a slim keyboard strip — a wide multi-octave keyboard, with the MIDI map, Song JSON and shortcut icons stacked beside it. Sequencer-only keys and the play button step aside while it's off.
- Follow Host. The new Follow Host control (plugins only) makes RUB take its tempo and play/stop state from your DAW. The BPM field shows the host tempo and locks while it's on; with the sequencer off it simply keeps the delay in time.
- OPTS menu in every format. License, Import Presets, About and Reset are now available in plugins too (Audio/MIDI Settings and Quit stay standalone-only).
- Clearer parameter names in your DAW. Automation lists now read "Filter Cut Off", "Osc A x2", "Delay Sync", "Seq Slide Gate" instead of bare names like "x2" or "Accent".
- Smoother LED glows. Lit LEDs now glow with a soft, round halo that is no longer clipped by neighbouring controls.
- Dialogs fit any window. Song JSON, MIDI map, About, License and the shortcuts popover now stay inside short windows and scroll when they need to.
- Fixes for plugin hosts. No more rounded window edges inside your DAW, and keyboard shortcuts can no longer hijack typing into text fields (like the license key) while a dialog is open.
- Shortcut tweaks. Accent is now
,and Slide is., matching the button order in the step grid; the shortcut list adapts to whether the sequencer is on.
Unsigned builds
Same as 0.1.1 — these are unsigned, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will warn. That's expected; right-click → Open (macOS) or More info → Run anyway (Windows).

Where to drop it
Plugin bundles are folders — unzip, then move the whole RUB.<format> folder into place.
- macOS

/Applications). Plugins:~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components(AU),~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3,~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP,~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/LV2. - Windows
- Standalone: anywhere. Plugins:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3,...\CLAP,...\LV2. - Linux
- Standalone: anywhere —
chmod +x RUBif it won’t run. Plugins:~/.vst3,~/.clap,~/.lv2.
Older versions
RUB v0.1.1
The preset bank update. Every format on every OS now ships with the full factory bank compiled in — no separate preset files to install or lose.
What's new
- 35 factory presets, embedded in every binary. Standalone, VST3, CLAP, LV2 and AU all carry the complete bank; presets can't go missing no matter where the plugin file ends up.
- Reworked bank. Seven new presets joined the factory set (Clickscream Fast/Slow, Craw, Fourss, Going, M2, Draum) and the whole list was renamed and reordered — it now opens with the signature sounds.
- Safer saving. Factory presets are read-only in release builds — saving over one creates your own user copy instead of modifying the original. Saving a preset or MIDI map with a name that already exists appends
upd.Nautomatically instead of shadowing it.
Unsigned builds
Same as 0.1.0 — these are unsigned, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will warn. That's expected; right-click → Open (macOS) or More info → Run anyway (Windows).
