Get RUB

A monosynth in three letters

Riled up.
Unmuzzled.
Beast.

Monophonic voice built around a screaming filter path. 303-ish attitude, spicier filters — completely unhinged. Yours for whatever you think it's worth.

Hover any control to see what it does — same tips as in the app.

RUB faceplate in Pattern + Wave mode: note grid and oscillator pickers

Listen

Character.

Same notes, different chain — drive, rub and delay swap seats and the line keeps the scars.

Architecture

One voice.

The voice runs one way: oscillators into Rub, envelope into filter, dirt and echo on the tail. The sequencer doesn't just play notes — Param Seq reaches into the panel and moves knobs per step. Blend is the leash.

OSCOSC 19 waves · Custom · ×2

Main oscillator. Wave view picks a preset or Custom draw — that shape is the core tone.

TuneTune A−1…+1 · Range · B→A

±1…±24 st Range. B→A follows OSC 2 without rewriting this knob.

OSCOSC 29 waves · Custom · ×2

Second oscillator, phase-locked to OSC 1 until ×2 or relative Tune is on.

TuneTune B−1…+1 · Range · A→B

Same Range. A→B follows OSC 1 — laneable like any other param.

MixBlendEqual power

Crossfades OSC 1 and OSC 2 with equal-power balance so the middle stays loud, not hollow.

ShapeEnvelopeAttack · Decay · Accent

Shapes every note’s punch. Attack and decay set the bite; Accent hits harder on sequenced steps.

Path · RUB

OffStraightOscillators only

Clean BLEP path — clear acid lines without the driven filter character.

OnRubScreech · Oomph · RA/RB

Parallel filter + drive. Screech is Q, Oomph is drive, RA/RB sculpt shape and brightness.

FXDistortion

Post-path grit. Warms or shreds whatever Rub (or Straight) just handed you.

FXDelay

Echo in milliseconds or synced divisions — space after the dirt, not instead of it.

OutCompressor

Optional glue on the way out so wild peaks stay useful instead of clipping the master.

Sequencer

16-step sequencer·Sixteen steps per pattern. Sixteen pattern slots (0–F), chain them up, and let the sequencer own the voice while keyboard and MIDI ride along.

View · Pattern / Param

PatternNotesPitch · Accent · Slide

Step grid for the line. Drag the fish-eye pitch lane (C-3…C7), mark accent hits, and slide into destinations. Empty / release steps leave space. Arm capture to step through notes from keys or MIDI.

LiveTranspose− / + semitones

Shift the whole pattern while it runs. Hear it move — no rewrite needed.

ParamParametersLanes · Latch

Per-step overrides on MIDI-learnable knobs and toggles. Right-click a panel control to add that param as a lane. Active steps override the panel unless disabled; latches stay on the current pattern only.

AttenuationBlend Param OverridesCrossfade

Left is the panel state. Right is the overrides from the Param Sequencer. Shown only when the current pattern has lanes.

Play · Modes

SingleSINGLE

Loop the current pattern only.

ChainCHAIN

Walk the chain slot by slot, then wrap.

RandomRANDOM

Jump to a random chain slot at each pattern end.

Motion · Key moves

AccentAccentVelocity · Envelope

Sequenced accents hit harder — velocity and envelope bite on those steps.

SlideSUS / ALTTwo slide flavors

ALT: classic destination slide. SUS: sustain the prior note through the glide so the line stays glued.

CaptureNote captureKeys · MIDI · Advance

Arm the record control. Keys and MIDI write into steps and advance (wraps after 16). Hard MIDI hits = accent; held notes = slide. Del / R clear or release then advance. MIDI-learnable.

ChainPattern chainUp to 99 slots

Build a song path from patterns 0–F (up to 99 slots, 24 on screen). Letter end-caps page the strip; click a slot for Play from here and edit actions. CHAIN and RANDOM read this row; SINGLE ignores it and stays on the selected pattern.
